Our World
We have been welcoming guests to Aber House for over six years, creating a relaxed and friendly place to stay. Many of our guests return year after year, and we always look forward to welcoming new visitors too.
Aber House is a historic and prominent Grade II listed building set in the beautiful Welsh coastal town of Barmouth. Located on the west coast of North Wales, Barmouth offers a long sandy beach, a picturesque harbour and the stunning Mawddach estuary, an ideal setting to relax, unwind and explore the surrounding coast and countryside.
Perfectly positioned in the centre of town, Aber House is just a short walk from the harbour, beach, shops and railway station, making it easy to enjoy everything Barmouth has to offer without needing to drive.
We have carefully renovated the house to create a warm, comfortable and welcoming atmosphere, and look forward to sharing it with you.

Barmouth - where the mountains roll down to the sea.
Barmouth is a much loved historic seaside town, where mountains meet the sea and the horizon seems endless. With sweeping views across Cardigan Bay and the ever-changing light over the Mawddach estuary, it’s a place that quietly takes your breath away.
Life here moves at the rhythm of tide and sky - morning beach walks, harbour sunsets, and wide open landscapes that feel both peaceful and dramatic.

A place of Poetry
Gerard Manley Hopkins
Aber House has an interesting place in literary history.
Gerard Manley Hopkins was deeply moved by the landscape around Barmouth and the Mawddach estuary during his time here in the 1870s.
In a short poem celebrating nearby Penmaenpool, he wrote of the area as a peaceful escape from city life, capturing its still waters, wide skies and gently shifting light.
His words describe a place of rest and renewal - where mountains, estuary and open air combine to create a rare sense of calm that visitors still experience today.
